Five rules that hold whether we shot it or commissioned it.
Subject off-centre, breathing room on the leading side.
Foreground out of focus. Subject sits mid-depth, not at glass.
Horizon in lower third. Sky earns top two-thirds when it’s doing something.
One subject only. Two if the second is in profile and unaware.
Crop to a horizon, not a halo. Subject doesn’t need to fill the frame.
The look — applied in post, never in-camera.
